klismos, s'agapo--greek love

greeks are hot (and so are geeks) and you know, you just gotta love a good, greek klismos chair. the klismos chair is a style known for its light, elegance. developed by the ancient Greeks- you often see these on greek pottery (don't you?)

the klismos' distinguishing features are four (i know, that's pretty much every chair) curving, splayed legs and curved back rails with a narrow concave backrest between them. if you start looking around, there are some really funky versions of this and some really beautiful ones as well (like the above chair) these two, below, have barabara barry written all over their lovely curved splats (the back rest) although, i must note they are NOT attributed to ms barry.

donghia's version-looking very donghia i might add.

i'm not sure who this is. but i think this is pushing it. i know that it falls under all of the 'guidelines' (air quotes) but come on...this is more of a wingback. those little nubbin legs are not graceful and curving. i'm not talking smack, i actually sort of like this chair. i just think the designer is taking a few liberties with the definition.

klismos. feelin' the agape for you.

Klismos chairs are so versatile- I love them!
Yes, I love the Klismos chair! So many options to choose...I've almost used the Donghia one before, and wish I had.
